MONITORING AND REPORTING THE USE OF A REGULATED RESTRICTIVE PRACTICE

The purpose of this course is to provide disability support workers and allied health staff with the knowledge and skills required to correctly monitor and report the use of regulated restrictive practices under the NDIS framework. It ensures that workers understand their responsibilities in safeguarding participant rights, maintaining compliance with NDIS Practice Standards, and applying best practice in documentation and reporting. This training reinforces a rights-based and least-restrictive approach while preparing staff to act ethically, legally, and professionally in challenging situations.

SEVERE DYSPHAGIA MANAGEMENT

The purpose of this training is to equip support workers and care staff with the knowledge and practical skills required for the safe and effective management of severe dysphagia.

Dysphagia is more than just “difficulty swallowing” in its severe form, it can lead to aspiration, pneumonia, malnutrition, and even death if not recognised and managed properly. By completing this course, learners will be able to identify risks, support participants with safe feeding techniques, and follow appropriate escalation pathways in line with NDIS Practice Standards.

Importantly, this course is not only about physical safety but also about maintaining dignity, independence, and quality of life for participants living with severe swallowing difficulties.

RISK MANAGEMENT PLAN

Equip disability and aged-care workers with a practical, step-by-step method to create, implement, and review a Risk Management Plan (RMP) that protects participants while upholding choice, control, and dignity of risk. The session translates NDIS Practice Standards into everyday actions like hazard identification, risk rating, least-restrictive controls, documentation, escalation, and review so teams can prevent incidents, learn from near misses, and demonstrate compliance to auditors and families.
